The Republic of North Macedonia has initiated the pilot testing phase of its new e-invoice system (e-Faktura) on January 5, 2026. This state-owned, centralized platform will operate without intermediaries and aims to increase transparency, reduce the shadow economy, and lower administrative burden by replacing paper-based invoicing.
North Macedonia advances national e-invoice Reform
The Public Revenue Office and Ministry of Finance in North Macedonia have presented their national electronic invoice reform (e-Faktura), marking a significant step toward modernizing the country's tax system. The reform will digitize all non-cash invoicing through a centralized, real-time system. A pilot with selected businesses will begin in January 2026, with mandatory use from Q3 2026.
