Spain Moves Ahead with VAT Reform Under the EU’s ViDA Agenda

Companies selling across the EU may face new compliance requirements, but also greater clarity on how VAT should be managed.
Spain publishes first concrete technical architecture for mandatory B2B E-Invoicing
On June 1, 2026, AEAT published two key documents providing the first complete picture of how Spain's public B2B e-invoicing platform (SPFE) will work technically and operationally. The guides confirm UBL 2.5 on EN 16931:2026, a two-layer XSD and Schematron validation model embedded at sender side, and a staggered mandate starting October 2027 for large businesses. Preparation can now move from regulatory monitoring to concrete integration design.
